Confined Space Entry, Rescue & Gas Detection

Tanks, pits, silos, sewers and shafts don't give second chances — the atmosphere can turn toxic or oxygen-deficient without warning, and getting someone out is harder than getting them in. This range covers the full entry-and-rescue setup: gas detectors to test the air before and during entry, davits and tripods to anchor and retrieve workers, confined-space harnesses, escape hoods and permit-entry signage.

Explore the Range

  • Gas detection — MSA ALTAIR single-gas detectors (CO, O2) and multigas detectors (ALTAIR 2XT, 4XR and 5X covering LEL, O2, CO, H2S, NO2 and SO2), including a Mines Registered ALTAIR 4XR and a 4XR kit in a carry case.
  • Calibration & bump testing — MSA GALAXY GX2 automated test stands for ALTAIR 4X and 5X fleets, plus 34 L and 58 L four-gas calibration cylinders.
  • Davits, tripods & anchors — the Skylotec Jackpod davit system (certified to EN 795 B and AS/NZS 5532, 280 kg max load) with portable, floor, flush-floor and wall-mount bases, and the Skylotec TRIBOC tripod (EN 795 B, rated for 2 people).
  • Rescue & retrieval winches — Skylotec Jackpod winches (18 m and 45 m, EN 1496), davit brackets, and the TRIBOC manual winch and carry bag.
  • Confined-space harnesses — the Maxisafe Premium Utilities & Confined Space Harness (AS/NZS 1891.1) and the 3M DBI-SALA ExoFit NEX Confined Space Harness, both with shoulder retrieval loops.
  • Escape hoods & breathing apparatus — Sundström AS76-3 (ABEK1-Hg-P3) and AS77-3 (ABEK1-CO) escape hoods for emergency evacuation, and the MSA M1 SCBA compliance kit.
  • Signage — "Danger – Confined Space Entry By Permit Only" signs to AS 1319, in metal and polypropylene.

Before Anyone Goes In

Australian WHS regulations require a confined space entry permit, signage, atmosphere testing, a standby person and emergency procedures. In practice: test the atmosphere with a calibrated, bump-tested detector before entry and keep monitoring while work continues; rig a davit or tripod with a retrieval winch before entry, not after something goes wrong; and make sure the entrant's harness has retrieval points. An escape hood is for getting out of a contaminated space — it is not for going in or for rescue, which needs supplied air.
