Women's Work Boots

A women's work boot is not a men's boot in a smaller size. The differences that matter are in the last: a narrower heel, a lower instep and a shorter toe-to-ball measurement. Put a woman in a downsized men's boot and the heel slips, which is how blisters start and, over a long enough run, how ankle and knee complaints follow. Every safety boot on this page is certified to AS/NZS 2210.3 — the same 200 joule toe impact and 15 kN compression protection as any men's boot — but built on a last designed for a woman's foot.

Steel Toe or Composite?

Both meet the same rating. The difference is everything around it:

• Steel toe — a thinner cap, so more room inside the same boot, and generally the lower cost. Conducts heat and cold, and triggers metal detectors.
• Composite toe — non-metallic and lighter. It will not set off a detector or conduct temperature, but the cap has to be thicker to hit the same rating, so the toe box sits higher.

Measure late in the day, when your feet are at their largest, and fit with the socks you actually work in.
